Can anyone recommend a microwave??..

i'm looking for a reliable, easy to use one with a grill. There's so much choice about.

Does anyone have one that's served them well over a number of years??

thanks

I've had a Panasonic Dimension 4, which has been great over the last few years. It has been discontinued, but it is a 1000wmicrowave with built in grill. Only drawbacks have been that the external casing can get very hot and the noisy fan keeps going for a couple of minutes after food is cooked.

Cheaper versions are available in 800w, 850w and 900w, and I think 850 is the minimum you should look for (it is the setting that appears most often on ready-made meals!).

Check Kelkoo for prices and Quidco for cashback on some suppliers.

you didn't mention your budget. that'd be the obvious guide. I went for a big Sharp Stainless Steel job (will find the model number when i get home). It's got grill, oven, etc and is very big. liking it so far. it was about £260 I think.

Thanks..yours sound great...but am looking to spend only about £100- £150...actually it's gonna be my mum's money, as it's my chrissie present from her!

I really want one with a grill, if possible.
    thanks all
  • I recently bought my best ever microwave, from Lildl. Made by bifinett, which I think is German. The microwave has two grills (top and bottom) and you get to choose either or both. Does fantastic pizzes too and you get to tell it if the pizza is frozen, chilled or fresh, so it can calculate the cooking time. In fact, the microwave does everything except sing the German National anthem! It has a metal type tray with a lip and fixes firmly into the microwave, so none of that trying to catch the glass base, if it slides out when you get your food out. Even the packaging in the box had 8 hard plastic corners, to stop damage during transit!

The website is also listed www.kompernass.com. My microwave is a KH 1166 http://www.kompernass.com/pages/index.php?page=1,3,1,2&product=321

    The cost - £30 - and no, I didn't miss a zero off that.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I wouldn't have another Sharp, I've had 2 that have given up the ghost at around 18 months. (Bought the second thinking it was a one off but liked the look of them). Panny for us next time.
