Where can I get a leather sofa quickly?

Options
Hi All

I need to purchase a leather 3 and 2 seater fairly soon, ideally within the next 2 weeks. I have been to DFS, Hareys and LandOF Leather and all the ones I like have the usuall 12 weeks ++ waiting time. There are some which can be taken away, but they are damaged or weird colours.

I do not want an old one for a temporary basis (i.e freecycle or second hand).

Anyone any ideas what I can do? I was thinking of buying from Argos, but just cannot buy something like a sofa without seeing or sitting on it. I live in the South East if that helps.

Many Thanks

John Lewis deliver some of their sofas (including some leather ones) in 7 days. I went to the shop to check them out and then when I was ready to buy I ordered online (Quidco) on Sunday night. They rang me Monday morning wanting to deliver it that Friday.

Any reason why you can't wait? It's quite usual to expect to wait 6-12 wks for sofa deliveries.

I recently had one delivered from DFS within 4 weeks even though they stated 12 weeks when I ordered. Was a Linda Barker corner group and it's very nice indeed.

I bought mine from argos its very comfortable and i received it in 1 week :j
  • Yep I am thinking off Ikea - even though I will probably have to get there for 6 am (45 mins drive) and be back for work.

With Argos - if only I could view it or sit it on before I would be happy. The existing sofa belonged to family who will be taking it away as soon as we get ours. Out of courtesy I need to get one quickly - with the likes of DFS saying 12 weeks and it being 4 weeks. Well I dont particular want to take that risk, as it will mess us and my family up a bit.

Anyone know what IKEA delivery times are like?

have you thought about freecycle? its a yahoo group thats spilt regionally, where people offer stuff thats too good to throw away (i thier eyes) for free to a good home. You might find a sofa you can collect that week, thow a throw over it and then look for a sofa you really want, once you have a date that the new one arrives put the other sofa back on freecycle for another to make use of?

Also near us there are a few show home clearance centers ( i think thats what they are) and they have all sorts of furniture for sale that you can just take away. Some of its quite nice, you never know whats hiding in your local industrial esate.

we had an office shutting down, so I had some waiting room sofa chair bench type thing till we got ours delivered, not the best but they worked fine and now we have the sofa we really wanted, not one that came "quick".

Certainly not DFS! Mine has now been on order for 12 weeks today. I guess they had difficulty catching the cow for the leather:D

  • We got our sofa from Ikea last weekend, we moved house the weekend before and were thoroughly sick of sitting on camping chairs!

I rang them to check that delivery would be guaranteed, and they told me if we bought the sofa before 12 then it would be same day delivery - this turned out to be untrue when we got there!

We had it delivered the next day. They told us the company would ring between 7 and 10am with a delivery slot, and deliveries started from 7am. They rang at 9 and said they'd be there between 2 and 6pm. They came at 5 and all was well :)

The price for delivery was quite reasonable too, we live in Maidstone and bought the sofa from the Lakeside store and it was £55.
One day I will be out of my student debt, one day...
