OK, so in a fit of madness, we've just purchased a whole Lamb (16kg) I thought it was a bargain at £60.
Now I need your guys help! Obviously we'll have roasts, curries (you can't beat lamb in a curry) and stews but what other things can I do with lamb?
We have 4 leg joints, lots of chops, 2 shoulder joints and 4 other joints that I can't quite work out what they are. Racks of lamb? But would there be 4?
Over to you guys.

If you like curries what about kurzi lamb, often very expensive in Indian restaurants.

A roast is nice and then cold the next day with a jacket potatoe - then sandwiches for any left.
Bone in the SC to make a lamb stew.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Check with the butcher what the other joints are?
we have bought whole lambs a couple times, usually 2 proper racks per lamb, or 6-8 sets of cutlets, same of loin chops, plus neck-is it neck fillet you have, or maybe you have the breast joints there too.
Here is a nice chart showing the various cuts0 -
I have done a nice roast with breast of lamb, boned. (By me!) Stuff with (grated eating) apples, dried mint and grated lemon zest. Tie up with string and roast slow. Yummy! IHTH0

I've always paired lamb with red wine type sauces but have seen a number of recipes, including some which are supposedly derived from Greek cuisine (and they are certainly good at lamb!) using white wine. I keep meaning to give it a try.
Trouble is, I tend to associate white wine with 'drinking' and 'feet up' when it comes into the house whereas I can happily slosh the red in a cooking pot without that thought!0 -
Lamb chops are lovely braise with onions and carrots and either some mint or rosemary.

This Jamie Oliver shoulder of lamb recipe is superb, done it lots of times with or without the smashed veg. Doing it today, in fact, for when the hordes visit:

(Sorry, can never get to grips with doing a link the 'posh' way)0 -

I will second that, we will never cook shoulder of lamb any other way now. A cheap cut of meat rescued by a simple, delicious method. The meat just falls off the bone, so you don't so much carve, as pull pieces away.0 -

Looks like we have the leg joints halved then as they aren't huge. We had about 8/9 packets of chops (of varying types) plus one pack of what looks like the neck in chops. 2 shoulders and then 4 more joints that I can't figure out. Looking at the chart that hotcookie101 posted, it could be racks and breast.
I've just been looking online and it looks like we got a real bargain! It's welsh lamb too. Will definately be buying from there again (once we've tasted it) Guess whats for Sunday lunch today? Lmao.
