It's not highly unusual for banks not to pay interest on balances below this level on some accounts. I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that both Icesave and Kaupthing didn't pay anything on balances under 1k at one point.
However, let us hope that it does not become a trend!0 -

some natwest accounts only pay 0.1% on balances below 2k so nearly as badKavanne
