Saving money on smoothies - best juicer?

Hi all, not sure if this is the right section as it's an OS and a techie question!
I want to cut down my spend on smoothies and make more fresh carrot juice etc - health for the new year and all that jazz.
At the moment I only have a blender and would like a juicer as well.
Can anyone recommend good juicer models that are under £35 and that hopefully I can also buy via Quidco or Pigsback? Or at Robert Dyas / Argos or other high street at a good sale price.
Many thanks :T

I wouldn't buy a Moulinex one again, mines useless! Not much help but it's a definate AVOID from me. Waste is huge, clogs up all the time, I need a new one.One day I might be more organised...........

I bought my sil a cookworks ? juicer from Argos , it was @£14.99. This model was just as good as my Morphy Richards which I paid over £50 for.
Although you get what you pay for I would start off with something quite cheap & plain . Make sure you really like juicing before you go for the all singing all dancing machines.
I do use mine all the time. Since I have had it I never throw any fruit away.
The downside it washing all the bits & pieces!

To be honest, I wouldn't bother with a juicer. I've gone down that route twice over the years and have found that the clean up was too much work for the juice. If you can afford a very expensive, crusher type juicer you might get an acceptable juice without massive clean up effort, but in my experience cheap, centrifugal, commercial juicers are not worth the trouble

Aldi currectly have a juicer on offer for about 9.99. It looks good, but I have no idea how well it works. I almost bought one myself but I've enough gadgets that dont get used enough already... rice maker... food processor... bread maker... ice cream maker...SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Hi
Don't buy the magic bullet.. its rubbish.
Theres some small rubber ring things in the base of the machine that split and get chopped up with your food.. my son and i tried muffin mixture only to find out that the machine had added its own rubber ingredience:mad: Once the rubber thingy has gone there is no seal left so any liquid you try to blend will leak out:mad:
If you read reviews on the net they also tell you about this (shame i didnt read them before i bought it)
My OH bought me the JMC juicer for christmas.. used it loads .. its brill (currently 1 stone 2 pounds lighter):j:rolleyes: Diets are only cool when your not on one :rolleyes:0 -
Hi everyone - thanks for all the advice - I don't want to spend loads but at the same time I know I should get one as it's the only way I will enjoy 5 a day quickly!
Looks like Jack La Lanne and JML are the ones to choose from - presumably both on opposite ends of the spending scale he he...MFW #185

I have a juicelady and hardly ever use it as it leaves the juice very pithy and cloudy. I tend to use my blender more often for smoothies (about £12.00 from tesco I think).
I have heard v good things about the Jack La Lane one though.Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0 -

I think smoothies can only count towards one of your 5 a day since all the fibre in them is broken up.0 -
I prefer juices to smoothies - rarely use my blender for smoothies. I particularly want to be able to make my own carrot juice...MFW #185

Have you considered a food processor with a juicer and blender attachments? If you are looking to replace other items in the near future then it might be worth doing them all at once and getting more for your money.
Or can you get a cheapy one from a car boot sale to see if you get on with it/use it as much as you thought - you could then upgrade to a better one
I cant be the only one with a Kenwood Smoothie maker lying at the back of the cupboard unused but full of good intentionsThe early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0
