if you have a breadmaker now the plums are dirt cheap why not make a load of jam in it?
this week Ive made jars and jars of plub jab
ruhbarb jab (frozen out of farmfoods)
and blackberry and apple jab
(sorry but I have a cold)
make sure you sterelise your jars or your jab will go mouldy
I use the 99p baby stereliser fluid from tescos
works out about 50p a jar of lovely jam containing fruit and sugar no e numbers or colouring etc
;D
going to try marmalade next week if I can find some cheapo oranges

if your making it in the breadmaker your book that came with it will have its own recipe

Have you got a recipe for pineapple jam Cathy? I have a hankering, Hartleys used to make it years ago, but have never been able to find any - unless anyone can tell me differently! ;D0

Pineapple Jam
1 1/4lbs of pineapple diced ( or one 20-ounce tin crushed pineapple in syrup)
1 1/4 pounds sugar
half bottle of pectin (in the baking section supermarket)
First, prepare the fruit. Measure contents of one can crushed
pineapple. Add enough water to make 20 oz Place in very large saucepan
Then make the jam. Measure sugar and set aside. Mix pectin
into fruit in saucepan. Place over high heat and stir until mixture
comes to a full boil. Immediately add all sugar and stir. Bring to
a full rolling boil and boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and skim off foam with a metal spoon. Ladle quickly
into hot sterilized jars
or if its in your breadmaker just look at the recipe for amounts of fruit0 -
Thanks so much Cathy, off to get pineapple tomorrow! You are a little pearl! :-*0

Apologies if this has already been discussed but I did do a search and couldn't find a mention of it!
I've got a recipe for jam made in a MR breadmaker. I've never made jam before and wouldn't know where to start doing it on the hob so was just wondering if anyone had any expericence of doing it in a breadmaker?
Also if it does work okay, does anyone have any other recipes? I've only got one for marmalade and a raspberry and apple jam using frozen raspberries. I'll be using fresh fruit!
Thanks in advance
