    Yes it is USB. Assuming each photograph's size is between 1-2 Mb, you could store over 100,000 photographs. Unless if you have more photos than that, then the answer to your question is Yes.

    Thanks to the poster for this. Just taken delivery of mine, the free software is via download but after that everything works seamlessly. The small USB connection to the Iomega drive itself does work loose if you try moving the drive whilst its connected but all in all an excellent bit of kitthat takes up a lot less space than my old seagate drive with its power source:D

    On the subject of storing photos, consider using one of the online storage websites. You can get 50GB of FREE storage for your files.

    My cable kept popping out without prompting so I tried another one I had knocking around (I don't need the two USB ports for power on my laptop so used a simple connector) and no more problems. It is definitely an issue with the cable rather than the micro USB port on the device. So far seems like an excellent little hard drive. Thanks OP.
