Infantino recalls baby slings in Britain after three deaths in a year

As many as 10,000 baby slings are being recalled in Britain after being linked to the deaths of three American infants.
Infantino, the baby care company, advised parents immediately to stop using its SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo models after an investigation by US safety officials.
Three babies have died in the fabric carriers in America over the past year, with another 11 cases since 1990 under investigation. The Californian company has recalled a million of its slings in the US, 15,000 in Canada and 14,000 across Europe.
The US Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) has already released warnings about the carriers. Earlier this month they advised parents that a very young baby could suffocate within minutes if carried incorrectly.

For those that aren't aware the problem is potentially with any babybag type carrier. They can position the baby's head so its chin rests on its chest restricting its airway. This is similar to the problems found it infant car seats and is why babies should not be let in car seats for long periods.
