    BT don't charge 10p/minute for 0870 calls.

There are (just so as to perpetuate the smoke and mirrors pricing regime designed to confuse consumers and outrageously allowed by Ofcom) a few 0870 numbers to which a cheaper rate applies but, for most, BT charge BT Together Option 1 residential customers 7.51p/minute 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 3.75p/minute 6pm to 6am Monday to Friday and 1.5p/minute at weekends.

You can reduce the 7.51p/minute rate from a BT landline to 4p/minute by using www.18185.co.uk
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Their is no way you can cut the cost of calls to the 0871 6p to 10p numbering ranges. BT are the safest bet to call them from a landline.

i broke away from them last september, do not phone them as the person mentioned premium numbers you will run a bill up, i sent registered mail to them giving my intention to quit, and kept all receipts from post office and copies of letters, still they badgered me on the phone but within 1 month i had finished with them

just an idea - but if you write AND cancel your direct debit, you can guarantee they'll be in touch very quickly!!!

I found it easy to leave but only had my calls through them. I just asked BT to start routing my calls through them again and that was it.

    Beware !

I have seen recruitment adverts in local papers in West Yorkshire for salespeople to sell Homecall in Post Offices , it looks as though every visit to the PO is going to be marred by these idiots that jump on you the minute you walk through the door .

Their favourite days are pension days as its easier to bully an old lady or man .

If you have bother with them ask to speak to the PO Manager when you get to the counter and insist on them taking your complaint in writing there and then.

I did this last time they were in my local PO and a que formed behind me waiting for the PO Manager to register their complaints , he was well p****d off !

Seems a bit odd for them to be selling Homecall at Post Offices. I thought the Post Office had their own home phone service.

Its me having a temporary lack of braincells, I could have sworn the Op was Home Phone , which of course is the PO phone service ! However the warning stands. Enter a PO in the near future and you will be harrased by get rich quick braindead muppets with no manners or scruples !
