easter holidays - CHEAP ways to entertain the kids

hi all

I have looked around to see if there has been a thread like this but couldn't find one. If there is please join it on.

We are trying to cut down this month with other bills and shopping at LIDL. So with the kids off school, took them to local woods today and bought a drink. Took lunch and spent 2 hours there. All in all cost £3.20 for a drink and with petrol to get there I suppose. Any of you MSers got any great ideas to have a cheap easter with the kids to keep them entertained?

Any ideas welcomed. CHeers. :) :money:

    if you're in Wales I think there's free swimming for under 16s during school holidays (or is it just summer holidays?)

    sorry OP I got that far and all I could think of was Hansel and Gretl - now that's moneysaving taken too far :rotfl:

    The woods always did well for us, or a walk around the local llama farm or up to the iron age fort, but with a sandwiches and big bottle of diluted squash or 'special juice' (tap water with a dash of lemon juice) rather than paying for drinks.

    Some things my kids enjoy:
    Going to the library.
    Inviting friends and family round for Wii tournaments, word games, cards games etc
    Making buns and peppermint creams.
    Welly walking on the beach and cooking outdoors on our camping stove.
    Helping in the garden and planting seeds.
    Just a few off the top of my head - hope it helps!

    I've been decorating biscuits and cupcakes with my toddler. Also planting seeds - well mainly filling pots with compost, and I've been doing the seeds.

    Also going to take him to the park tomorrow to take some photos with him in the daffodils.

    we have planned 3 big days out each week, i bought the tesco's days out vouchers from ebay £140 for £80 which is fab when your a family of 7!!
    if you go on a train in scotland kids go free and they will also get into certain attractions with the train ticket! we have planned eveything down to a t and have the packed lunches planned and petrol/train tickets planned.
    Most local swimming pools have various activities on and baking is always a big hit in this house! local museums, playparks, shell picking at the beach, picnic?

    i thought most of england has free swimming for under 16's.
    A bike ride, wash the car, just give them big buckets and sponges and leave them too it! if its raining put their waterproofs and wellies on and have a puddle splashing session.
    Have a look on the website for you local council or ring the libary most councils run things for kids free even if they only last a couple of hours.

    Sure Start Playschemes?

    Don't know if you have any Sure Start Centre's near you, we seem to have a lot around here and they do Playschemes in the School Holidays for 3-8 year olds, 2 hours for £1 per Child! My Kids always enjoy going.
