This has been posted before a few times, and general consensus is to wait until release day and just pop along to local Asda/Tesco/Sainsburys. When Order of the Phoenix was released all the big 3 supermarkets were selling them for £6.87 and had plenty available on release day. You can bet they will all be trying to outdo each other this time as well.

I'll second that!! And the bookshop called 'the works' will probably be nice and cheap too. :D

Yeah, I bought mine from The Works last time. It was £6.99, which isn't that much more expensive and was easier for me to get to

£9.85 at WHSmith (or only £6.57 perhaps?)

    http://www.whsmith.co.uk/whs/go.asp?Menu=Books&pagedef=/books/prodlists/harrypotterv6.htm&promotion=p2_potterpreorder&shop=21774

May be able to get it for £6.57 by buying 3 copies (assuming you know 2 other people who also want a copy and want to order at the same time) under a 3 for 2 offer.
They do seem to have a selection of 3 for 2 offers - not sure if any apply to HP&THBP but worth a look or keeping an eye out for future offers at the site.

  • i am thinking about pre-ordering the new Harry Potter book, but want to get the best deal...

Tescos are doing it for 9.99 - but 2.74 delivery....? (delivered on day of release)

I know most of the book shops are doing it - but who is the best?

Amazon are also offering it for £9.99 I think, but again you have to pay delivery unless you spend £19.

You are probably best waiting until the book is out in the shops - last time most of the major supermarket's had it available cheaply - see discussion here

They've got it for £11.99 delivered which is a bit better than Amazon's £9.99 plus £2.75 delivery charge.

Personally I'll be buying 2 from Amazon which will qualify for free delivery, as if we only had one, hubby and I would be fighting over it :o

But in true moneysaving style will sell the extra one on ebay afterwards ;)
  • i think i got the best deal... done an online survey which was posted on here and got a £10 voucher for amazon. pre-ordered harry potter book with £1.78 to pay!!!

W H Smiths seem to have a good offer instores, and doing Midnight opening.

Pay £1 deposit now, and till reciept shows price will be guaranteed at £9.99.

Online WHS is £9.85 with free delivery to store. (hardly worth saving 14p)

Remember, release day is once again Saturday, and it was estimated that over 25% of internet orders did not arrive until the Monday, so if you want a copy on day of release and a first edition, you are probably better off reserving at local W H Smith store.
