Is there anything i can start to grow this time of the year (particuarly Vegetables) as i have dug over a patch in the garden previously covered with weeds.

In true money saver style i would like to grow some veg or salad stuff, so what can i do with the bare patch before weeds take over again?
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.

You should still be able to get tomato/aubergine/pepper plants from garden centres.

How about a cut-and-come-again lettuce leaf bowl? Herbs? Beans of some kind?
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Get a packet of lettuce or salad leaves and sew a small quantity every few days, so you don't get a whole load at once. Radishes grow quickly as well. Peas might be ok , but check the packet (I've only just sewn mine in the past fortnight, and they're coming up nicely.
You've left it a bit late for lots of seeds, but you could get a few courgettes. runner beans and the like from B &Q, especially if they're in the clearance section.
Good luck. It's well worth it.

    HI There,

Im growing at the moment, and was looking for what vieg i can plant from seed now...I think the root vegetables are ok, i have a packet of swede and some turnip seeds which state they can be sown up to late July. I have also just planted some spinach seeds. I also got some seed potato's off a friend which are growing well too.

I think tomato plants are reduced at my local garden center, so you should still be able to get your hands on some.

As mentioned previsouly salad leafs such as rocket and lettuce should be ok too.

    Good luck.
