granola bars?

after a trip to starbucks (a well earned treat) where i had one of their granola bars ive come home and tried to make one but it wasnt good

Can anyone help me with a reciepe as cant afford to go to starbucks on a regular basis just one.:j

    I similarly have been impressed with Costco's granola, but haven't been able to find a close recipe. I'll be watching this thread, as Granola bars could be the way to go.

    This recipie was given to me by a friend

    3 Cups (750ml) Rolled Oats (porridge oats)
    1 cup (250ml Chopped Peanuts (or any nuts you have)
    1 cup (250ml) Raisins
    1 cup (250ml) Sunflower Seeds
    1/2 cup (125ml) Melted Butter
    1 cup (250ml) Choc Chips (optional)
    1 can Condensed Milk

    In a large bowl combine all ingredients and mix well.

    Line a 15 x 10" pan (meat tin) with Baking parchment

    Press mixture evenly into pan

    Bake 25-30 mins at 160*c or 325*f or until golden brown.

    Cool. remove from pan and cut into bars.

    I haven't made these myself yet but have tasted my friends and they were yummy.

    I replied to the muesli bar thread before I saw this one still high calorie and high fat but I think alot healthier and definitely more protein (with peanuts) so I'll definitely be trying this one.
    You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
    "anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs :p :rotfl:

    I have some Quaker Granola in the cupboard (a box of apple and balckberry an on of strawberry and raspberry),that I would like to turn into Granola bars for the kids packed lunches tomorrow.

    I have light and dark sugars, honey, maple and golden syrup, butter, spices etc.
    I also have a bag of wheatgerm thats been kicking around if that's any use?

    Any ideas?

    The January edition of Delicious magazine has a great recipe for granola in it, and a recipe showing you how to turn it into a granola bar. Not sure if it's still in the shops but if you can get hold of a copy I'd really recommend it :)

    Granola recipe from 'Delicious' is .. welll..... delicious!

    I found a recipe that was deemed to be like the Starbucks granola bar, can't locate at the mo, but will have another look. I googled.


    The list of ingredients in the recipe isn't the same as those in the Starbucks blurb,

    Try this link http://www.scot-trek.co.uk/granola.php.It's the recipe that was in Good Food a couple of years ago and is the closest I've ever found to the Starbucks one.
