Southern Fried Chicken

I'm trying to find a good recipe for Southern Fried Chicken. I've in the past tended to buy it ready made from supermarkets, but when i've tried to make it myself it's never as good.
Anybody have any good recipes? I've looked online but what i've seen doesn't seem to have a tasty coating, something spicy would be nice. Also in the interests of healthy eating, oven cooked would be even better! (ok, i know this doesn't quite make it 'fried' but you know what i mean!?).

That recipe looks good sloppychops. Can anybody tell me if I can get celery salt in a supermarket? I have never seen it before.0

celery salt can be found on the herbs and spices stand you see in supermarkets. I think usually it's one of the schwartz products, the ones in the small glass jars.

Hi looking for some expert help from you guys .On my meal planner this week for Friday i have home take away, this week it has been requested by my dd we have fried chicken .Been rooting in the kitchen and i have a jar of coating mix but it is too spicey for us been looking at the ingredients and it's only made from flour, salt,Monosodium glutamate(but it is take out night),white pepper, raising agents .My question do you think i could 'dilute' the spicyness by adding more flour.Or should i have a bash at making my own with out the Monosodium glutamate0

I usually just dip it in egg and then dip it in flour with a bit of pepper mixed in with it. You could also add a chicken OXO cube to the flour if you wanted.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
