Completely free 5 hours of VOIP Calls

Options
https://www.freecall.com

Are currently offering 5 hours of free calls to many destinations (including the UK).

Just download the software and check the destinations list to see if the country you wish to dial is on the list. No need to provide any payment details.

Hope this helps someone, I'm off to make some free calls

it also works from VOIP hardware devices as well or you can use another SIP softphone.

My router allows mw to plug in my cordlesss phones so I can make VOIP calls anywhere in the house, plus I can still make / receive calls on my normal phone

Am I right in thinking that this only works by calling you on your land line and then connecting you to the number you want to dial? So the only advantage is the free/cheap calls, and not the convenience of being able to make the calls from your computer?
  • If you make the calls on their web site then they phone you back tying up your normal phone line.

If you download the application you can make calls direct from your PC to another phone that is on the free list eg. UK national.

If you have a hardware SIP/VOIP phone then you can use that to make calls away from your PC again without using your normal phone line - all assuming that you have broadband

I'm stumped. Just can't get FreeCall/VoipCheap/SipDiscount or any of the Finarea/Betamax services working on my Linksys PAP2 ATA, but have got SipGate, Orbtalk and VoipTalk working fine - but they don't offer free calls!

    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Does anyone know if downloading this will interfere with Skype, which I currently have downloaded and use farily regularly? I like the idea of having the extra free 5 hours especially since my entire family lives in the U.S. and I've moved here to England!

I am a complete newcomer to this kind of gadget. Does the other side need the same setup/software? When I get through, how do they answer my call- by picking up the phone handset, or speak to the pc via headsets etc? Thank you in advance.

No, it wont interfere with Skype, I'm always using different voip providers as their offers come and go. I always also have skype installed to ring others that have skype for free. The only thing you'll notice is that a small icon will be present in your taskbar when you start up your computer. Thats it. So yes it's fine to use with skype.
