Go to this page http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ and there is a link near the top called Download GIMP 2.4.5 – Installer for Windows 2000 and above, that should do the trick.

The Gimp will be able to do what you want but there is no magic button to do it, it will take a fair bit of effort and practice on your part. Make sure you have a good backup fo all of your pictures before you start messing around with them. Also do a google search for tutorials.

If you are not a pro, you could try Picasso from Google. I don't use it to edit photos, just view them but I am sure there are editing tools

It's Picasa and although it does have editing tools I think they're pretty basic, things like red eye removal. It's certainly worth having a look at though to see if it can do what you want. It is a lot simpler than The Gimp.

Haha, I just realised that I had written Picasso.

Yea like I say, an alternative. I think I might dowload Gimp and have a look too. (got a bot of time to kill)

Only mentioned this in last couple of days but they serve such different markets there's nothing wrong with having both installed. I use picasa for organising my photos and doing basic fixes and size changes but I also have Gimp installed as my image editor.

  • Did your camera not come with free photo manipulation software? Is the CD still sitting in the box somewhere?

Why not check out the website of the camera manufacturer, there may be a free download of their software.

There's a free program, and some other useful tools, that may help you to do the job quickly and with little fuss, here:
