Everest double glazing cash back scheme

Options
Please has any one ever used Everest and got this cash back? I had my house double glazed about 8 months ago. I was promised a cash back and nothing has come. I am getting quite concerned as the 1.5K was factored into the costing decision.
Please can anyone advice me?
Thanks.

Have you contacted Everest about the cashbacK? If so, what has been their response.

I worked for Everest, over 20yrs ago and they were very good. but had at the time no cash-back things. The only thing we did as Reps, at certain times to get the sale, if we needed to get our figures up, we would give up part of our commision. We may have said we would pay the deposit, or at least part of it. We did'nt always explain the money was coming from us personally. It may not be like that now, but maybe the company don't know. Check with the guy who sold you the windows, we always gave our number out. Any problems check with his boss, the area manager, or next up the district manager. Everest will probably give you a contact for them.
As a company they never wanted anything to do with a salesman making false promises, and getting the firm a bad name.

I have seen a few products sold with cashback, these companies generally in good faith get approached by a business offering cash back to promote sales of their goods (mobile phones was another)

and unless you apply in writing with 4 copies, on a thursday afternoon standing on one leg witha rose between your teeth (sorry getting a bit exagerated).....you dont qualify to get cash back

    so what CAN you do?

everest are not part of the GGF otherwise Id suggest them, no point going to FENSA they are building regs compliance people, however there are new consumer regulations just come into force which outlaws deceptive selling practices. Its probably not possible to use this new law, but my advice would be to write to the Ombudsman of the bank behind the operation. They'll surely say its not themm but trading standards must be able to help advise who youi should go to.

    I agree its NOT fair
Buying quality goods which last, should be an investment that saves money. :T
Buying cheap products which fail, wastes money and costs twice as much in the long run.

Thanks. I have spoken to trading standards. They think I may be able to state that the contract was misleading. I have to fight this.
I will appreciate any help from anybody who had been through this kind of ordeal.

I have just resigned from Everest so I can give you the latest gen. The cashback scheme is part of the Everest Finance package and is only available when you take out the finance which is provided in conjunction with Barclays (I understand is was Clydesdale which is now part of Barclays.) The cashback should be AUTOMATIC (This is what were were told to say) A cheque for 10% of the financed amount is sent out after 6 monthly payments.

Now then Everest make a great play on the fact that you get a double gaurantee by using the finance. According to the trading Standards act (cant remember which one) Barclays are EQUALLY liable for any claims etc made by the company. As a salesman we were told to show the relevant page from the TDA.

My suggestion. First is it over 6 months, if so why not get hold of Barclays and start putting pressure on them. I also have the mobile number of Colin Davis one of the Company directors. To be honest with you I don't know how far you would get with him.

Good luck email me if you need any more info!

I wouldn't touch Everest with a Barepole a couple of years back I was missold some windows/door. The salesman was pusher he wouldn't leave and then I found out he had lied when I challenged him on the mobile he put phone down on me. Some years later I found out he was sacked

I had so much trouble getting my money back which was a deposit I had to threaten them that I will come down and cause bedlam at the head office if I didnt get my deposit back, which I did in the end

    Never ever go near them

I think the cashback is a marketing ploy, there prices are already well over the odds
  • Barclays have just returned every penny of the interest, and we did get the 10% cashback. This is the deal the Everest salesman originally offered us. It took us two years and the very appreciated efforts of Trading Standards, The Serious Fraud Office, The Mail on Sunday and Barclays Head Office, right up to the very highest level. The whole thing is a scam because you pay more in interest than you get as cashback! This fact is omitted from the literature and our salesman's sales patter. At least Barclays now know there is an issue and will refund, even after they write to say they won't.

As Poppycat has noted, it is a marketing ploy of Everest's but, at the end of the day, they are accountable and wide open to action being taken against them.
