Where can I get a current acct?

Hi

Just wondering if anyone can help - basically Halifax downgraded my acct when I got a new card to a Visa Electron - the disadvantages of these have been well documented!!

I have tried to upgrade but because I have a default on my credit file they will not do it. This is being paid off via a monthly payment to the CCCS - so won't be paid fully for quite a few years. I explained to them I did not want an overdraft or credit facilities but they say it does not matter.

Now I am paying in about £3000 in total into the current acct each month so can anyone suggest where I might be able to get a current acct that will give me a Visa Debit - or any card but a Solo or Electron? The problem is they all seem to want to do a credit search....

Thanks

Thanks Grumbler...it seems though that none of the posters here have Defaults against them - basically I know my Credit file is awful....seems I may have to put up with the Electron for the foreseeable - and just try and carry Cash to avoid embarrasment!!

    Thanks

As far as I understand, if one has a good history, he could expect to get Visa-Delta debit card. However, they recommend Natwest and HSBC that issue Solo cards for account similar to what you have with Halifax. It is worth trying to apply. You have nothing to lose!
