Is it a recent/popular dvd or a rare item?
Whats the condition?0 -
Depends how much you sell it for for your FVF fees
Ebay Fees
Paypal Fees and add your postage price and listing fees which will depend if you add any extras
Have a look on completed listing to see what others have sold for. Then you can work out if its worth selling0 -
Work backwards to see whether it is worth listing.
Say £3 BIN would be
20p listing, 3Op FVFs, approx 32p paypal, 76p 2nd class postage 12p envelope would leave a net £1.30 'profit'.
You'd save 20p by listing it as an auction due to the free media insertions current promotion.
Alternatively take a look at Amazon to see what it is likely to fetch there.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They are all old films not recent releases.. I have done a bit of searching on completed listings and for example one of the DVD's have sold for £2.99, £3, £3.99 BIN...
Have I looked this up right...
BIN listing fee 20p
FVF Fee 9% (does anyone know if this includes the listing fee?)
Sorry but that Paypal link doesn't work it says an error occurred.. anyone know off hand generally what paypals fees are roughly for say £3?
Has anyone recently sent a DVD second class? Is it £1.41 or £1.85? Sorry I have no idea how much a DVD weighs!0 -
Thanks Soolin - answered most of my questions there! I take it 76p for postage is if the PO takes it as a Large Letter?
Luckily I have one of those letterbox size cards here.... but my local PO are not nice people and often try to rip me off (They hate Ebayers!) I will have to be more firm with them!0 -
I have plenty of packaging material which I have collected over time so won't have to worry about the costs there anyway.
I think I will list them for about £2.99... about £1.70 is a good profit, and I just want them shifted really so thats a bonus...
Thanks again!0 -

Be careful with reused packaging, I use a single jiffy bags for DVDs and that keeps them well withn the large letter rate.If you pack them in bubble wrap and stuff very often the folded over bit at the end is too large for the slot and you end up paying for a packet instead.
Also my figures assumed a £1.30 profit not a £1.70 one, and you need to take into account all the unsold ones as well as you'll still pay listing fees on those.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. FVF does not include listing fee, it's just 9% of the final value the item sells for.
Generally you can post a single plastic cased DVD as a large letter 2nd class at 47p, either use size C bubble envelopes or even cheaper buy a big roll of bubble wrap and some gummed C envelopes from a pound store (it will take you longer to do this though). Some DVDs may weigh more, worth checking with your kitchen scales, it needs to be under 100g fully parcelled up to be 47p or will be 76p. Boxsets and special edition packaging may weigh more and be bigger so will probably be classed as parcels.
If I remember correctly paypal take an automatic fee of 20p and then 3.4% of your final value fee.
Might be worth doing a few example sales and costs in excel or similar if you have loads to list. You could also consider best offer listings. I have to say that when I've sold my old DVDs they tend to sell better in auctions (ie I sell more of them and quicker) but for slightly lower prices than buy it now.
Hope some of that helps0 -
Yeah I forgot to subtract the paypal fee when I was working it out
I think I am going to give it a punt anyhow and list them for 30 days for maximum exposure...
Thanks again0 -

I would reweigh your DVDs I don't have single legit DVD here that weighs less than 100g before wrapping unfortunately.
FVFs for a private seller are 10% not 9% as that is the business seller rate.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
