Problems With De Cuisine

My apologies if I'm posting in the wrong area but take pity, I'm a first-time poster!

I don't know whether how many of you out there are aware of this company, but De Cuisine are an online company (www.decuisine.co.uk) which specializes in baking equipment and unusual gifts. I have an interest in baking and had heard of this site, so when I decided to make a traditional round Christmas pudding I went to the site and purchased a 6” spherical pudding mould. I had no reason to doubt the site as it is mentioned by both Good Housekeeping magazine and Nigella Lawson as a stockist and if it’s good enough for them, they must be a good company, right? Sadly not.

I ordered the item on 1st October. Despite promises of dispatch within 24 hours, as yet I still have not received my order, even though payment was taken from my credit card the following day. The order tracker merely states that the warehouse team is picking my order and I have not received any reply to my emails asking for an update on my order.

The company now has a note on their site dated October 16th saying that they have suspended their email service due to excessive Spam but, they only intended this to be for a couple of days and we are now almost a month later. I have tried several times to contact them via the telephone number on their website but this just rings through to an answering machine that you cannot leave messages on.

I have done some investigating on the Internet and it would appear that I am far from alone with these problems. More worryingly, it seems that this has been going on for quite some time and De Cuisine just keeps coming up with one excuse after the other.

Has anyone else on here had any dealings with them and/or can anyone give me any advice on how I might be able to get my money back? I paid by Visa credit card but the goods total was under £100. I've heard of something called chargeback but I don't really understand it.

I really don't want to have to just chalk it up to experience as I'd still really like the item and could do with the money back to go and buy it elsewhere!

Phone your credit card company, they can get the money back for you. I'm not sure how it works, but my workfriend done it recently for a £20 item that never turned up.

Give them a call and they should be able to help.
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
