Car Hire without credit card

My daughter does not use a credit card, but wants to hire a car in France. She has been told by Hertz, that she has to get a full credit voucher from a UK travel agent, but her local agents say they have never heard of this. Has anyone any bright ideas of what I can advise her to do please?

  • Thanks, tried them but sadly, they only can do it if local partner does. Only partner at Carcassone airport is Hertz, spoken to them direct and they will not do it. Hertz in UK say they will accept a full credit voucher that can be obtained from travel agents here, unfortunately nobody told the travel agents! Please has anyone any ideas she has paid for flights, and gite but cant get to it. My disabled grandson is relying on Moneysavers coming up with an idea.

That's what I suggested last time this was raised.

If you book the car through a travel agent in the UK, that would produce the "full credit voucher" that Hertz are asking for. I can't see why you can't do this through a Hertz UK office as well but that might be too obvious for them. ;)

I have had this in the past. Even if you book through a UK travel agent, we produce a full credit voucher for the clients to take with them, but that means the client has to pay the deposit as well, because they still wouldnt be able to hold a deposit against a card, which works out very expensive.

  • Have you tried https://www.carjet.co.uk I believe they do not require a credit card for booking and will accept cash payment - that is certainly the case in Spain as I have done it before.
