Try a local broker as they can speak to relevant Insurers and explain the conviction and circumstances. Or try "Unlock"0

Oscar strangely enough whenever there is a thread about convictions and insurance a new poster comes along and posts advice to ring neil cook...
There are loads of entries on various blogs from people just like stancord if you google the number! I see the number is for Kay International, they were really really poor on the times I used them from property and liability and I would certainly not recommend them.
Neil / Stancord are you aware that is now against the law to post on blogs pretending to be a member of the public and singing the praises of a company you work for? If not have a look at the "Unfair Business Practices" Law. If you post anymore of these spams I for one will be reporting you to the OFT for them to investigate

OP, the above is the right advice to follow - ignore the pillock trawling for business.
You, along with many other people for many reasons, won't fit the standardised underwriting criteria used for direct web application, so you need to get in touch with a broker - hopefully there is one on your high street, or try the yellow pages. They will have a personal contact with several underwriters and know who to talk to given your individual circumstances. It's worth getting quotes from two or three brokers, but I wouldn't bother going direct to insurers.
best of luck,
