conveyancing quote

Hi,
We have recently accepted an offer on our house. The buyer has agreed a sale on their property and have a completion date of beginning of August. We have not yet found a property, but have the option of moving in with relatives while we look. Our estate agents have recommended their solicitors and I have today received a quote, as this is the first property i have sold, i am not sure if the quote is reasonable..I intend to get a couple of quotes, but thought I'd see what peoples thoughts are:

The sell charges are:
property: freehold mortgage £195k

Their fee: £525
Mortgage fee:£15
Official copies (up to)£22
VAT on fees £81

Total £643

Buy charges:
Based on a purchase of £300k

Their fee £525
Mortgage fee £50
Stamp duty land tax fee£55
Environment search £54
Land registry fee £280
Stamp duty £9000
Additional searches £15
VAT on fees £94.50
Chancel repair liability £30

The small print states that their fee guaranteed not to increase if i instruct them in the next 30 days..

They also refer in the small print
to online id verification service £9.50 per person plus vat
fee for each sum sent electronically £39 plus vat
a charge of £29+vat on completion to cover cost of maintaining archive of docs
the search price assumes that they are provided a valid hip and are not out of date...

Does the above seem reasonable...If we decide to sell only for the time being, would i be right in assuming that the sell charges are still valid even though the quote was for both buy and sale (I will check this with them, but thought id ask the question...

Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers

Seems reasonable to me, but I live in an expensive part of the world - the only way you can know is to get more quotes and compare.

We are buying, but not selling. We are paying:

Fee on purchase of £245k - £455 inc VAT

    Land reg search £6
    Land charges search £4
    Land registation fee £220
    Tel. transfer fees £30

plus VAT on the above, plus stamp duty of course.

Also, local searches of £138 if needed (wasn't).

I would say your quotation is about average for that price of property. HTH.
