Hi, can anyone help me please? My computer keeps getting stuck on the shut down screen.
It stays on the screen saying 'computer shutting down' and I then have to press the button on the main box... just suddenly started doing this..

This is most probably caused by a recently installed piece of software which is not releasing itself from memory on shutdown in a timely fashion. (By default Windows has a time limit of x seconds for applications to close - if one takes more than this it can stop responding. Sometimes it will recover, other times will hang
Instead of shutting down from the start button, hold down CRLT-ALT-DEL together which opens the Task Manager. Then click on shutdown and then flick between Applications and Processes - you will see the various items disappear as they each close. Look for any that change to "Not Responding" - if you see one or more, this is the likely cause. How do I add a signature?0 -

Noooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!
Please do NOT disable your firewall without having an alternative (Zonealarm, Kerio, Sygate) in place, or you will very soon have far more problems with your PC than a few troubles shutting down. :-/0
