Options
The other night while at work my OH tool ouk cash back accident insurance with the above company from someone who came door knocking . Slightly concerned as never heard of them!

I have not looked through his policy yet, but wondered if anyone has any info on this company!

Check for an FSA registration number on the documentation and look them up.

You have 14 days to cancel. Personaly, I would never buy a product sold door to door, no matter what, particulalry not a financial one - at best it will be far far too expensive for what it is.

    Combined insurance company of america.

Rubbish plans usually covering niche areas that are usually sold by insurance agents (who are only tied to this company).

    See their website:

It won't cover you for illness, only 'accidental' injury. You better see what the exclusions are and make sure its worth having. If you need this type of cover it may be better to get comprehensive health insurance instead. If its sold at the front door, it is probably poor value imho.

I assume your hubbie is a builder as they generally traget building trades with these types of products.

As dogbot has mentioned its not a great idea to buy anything from a door to door salesman especially Insurance Products you have not reasearched. With these types of Insurance products the salesman are generally on quite a high commission so a lot of the premium will go towards that.

The policy you have bought is a policy that pays out for injuries as a result of ACCIDENTS only. Its also subject to the injury resulting in your having IN PATIENT treatment at a hospital and is basically for breaks or fractures but will not cover for fractured ribs, fingers, toe, thumb, nose or teeth.

There are policies that will offer much wider cover and will include claims that do not result in In Patient treatment. It may be worth looking at one of these if you are looking to protect your husbands income.

I assume he has sold your husbnd one unit which is £12ish a month.

Here is a link to the a summary of the policy cover http://www.combinedinsurance.co.uk/media/pdf/CAP.pdf

Dunstonh will have something to say about the cover
  • Thank you all for your quick replies, I knew you wouldn't let me down!

Yes I was not happy he bought something from a door to door and yes he is a builder!

Started reading it through and it looks pretty rubbish to me, I know he wants accident and illness insurance but really wish he wouldn't do such stupid things!

Anyone got any good recommendations............as that will be my next task after I have stood over him while he covers the policy!

Get him down to a good independent IFA? http://www.unbiased.co.uk/

Or maybe try moneysupermarket if it is a straight up accident-sickness policy he is after.
