If someone uses your PIN for a fraudulent transaction your card issuer has to PROVE you acted withouth due care. APACS.

Several subscribers to these forums have found these empty words.

More people than ever are considering Chip & Signature Cards vice Chip & PIN but card issuers are not forthcoming with information about Chip & Signature Cards.

Chip & Signature Credit cards are real, they exist and are available to you and I. This means no Cardholder Liability for allegedly not taking care of your PIN. (Lots on this in the Newsnight Videos below).

These two Newsnight Videos are a must:

Chip & PIN Take-over & Fraud Risk Part One. (Click here).

Chip & PIN Take-over Part Two (Click here).

(Click on links in Blue for the other side of the story).

Quotes from APACS & ASDA re hacking of PIN entry terminals in shops:

Not currently economically viable for a fraudster to carry out.

Boots ASDA and the Co-op show confidence in the Chip & PIN system.

I use chip and signature cards for precisely this reason.

James i commend your mission to try to get people on chip & signature. But the fact remains that most companies wont meet that request unless the customer is registered disabled.

Mission - Chip & Signature Cards IMHO should be a money saving tip. Seen the latest in the FT? (click here).

Totally disagree - what you state is what the card industry would have us believe.

It's just a mater of persisting, speaking to the right people and telling your card issuer the truth.

C&S Cards from Nationwide, Egg, Liverpool Victoria, MBNA, BarclayCard, GE Money, Alliance & Leicester to name but a few.
  • What is this crusade about C&S cards all about, do you manufacture them or something? :p

Persisting is fair enough, if its not in a companies policy then they wont offer it. End of. No need beating the bush any further.

I've used a chip & pin card no problem since it was issued. Whilst I can admit some liability as someone who has the details with Chip & Pin. I can categorically say that Nationwide will not offer you a chip and signature card unless you're registered disabled.

I have one from Nationwide, and I'm not registered disabled so I'm afraid this statement is incorrect. Sorry, but all you have to do is be persistent with them.

So why can't my bank's issue me a Chip and Sig card? A&L, Halifax, Cap1, Raphaels Bank and Vanquis, I can assure you they DO NOT issue the latter type card, I have already asked.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I believe they are legally obliged to offer Chip & Signature cards if requested and I have never heard that this only applies to registered disabled people.

Chip & Signature is much more useful for the elderly who perhaps would forget their PIN more so than the younger generation. Surely this does not mean that they have to be registered disabled just because their memory isn't what it used to be ?
