Travel Agent £35 pp charges!!

Hi everyone,
Thompson have charged me £35 per person (£105) to change the dates for my family holiday.

20 minutes work by a call centre worker and they charge me £105

Can anyone advise if i am within my rights to commence court proceedings against them? I feel i can as £35 is not a true reflection of the actual admin cost.

Thompson have brushed me off saying its all in the T&Cs and i signed to it.

John

    Hi
I don't think that you can as it is not deemed as a penalty charge.
I am sure that is what I have read somewhere anyway!

i recently had to change some details to a holiday, Thomson therefore charged me £35 per change per person:eek: !! this equated to £105:mad: is this not similar to the illegal bank charges? As there admin fees are very unlikly to be this high meaning that surely they are penalising me, which under uk law they are not allowed to do. Does anyone know of anywhere i can get advice on this as i intend to try to reclaim these charges.

    Thanks
    Kev

Bank charges are not illegal, the amount charged is deemed as being unlawful.

You would need to determine how much you think it actually costs the travel agents/travel company to do the work that you have asked for then get a judge to agree with you.

I believe these are charges for a service, i.e. you want them to cancel/change your flight dates etc.
    Reclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH

well im on this boat as well having been charged by thompson!! i have tried looking into this and as yet had no reply but as we both stated there is no way it costs that much so therefore they are technically penalising us, and without any legal process to "fine" us, 2 years ago no one thought it would be possible to reclaim money off the banks! I intend to re-jig the letter for claiming bank money and see what happens,
but to conclude i see no difference between what they are doin and what the banks are, the Quote they are suppling a service could also be said about the banks!!!!
