Anyone been to either/both of the Long Marston and Henley in Arden boot sales? My research has found that pitches are slightly cheaper in Henley but that you need to book in advance.
Any opinions on the two for a first time seller?

We checked out the Henley-In-Arden car boot on the Saturday market day with a view to selling there. - It was a few years ago but found it had quite an atmosphere - and not a good one - felt we had to keep a firm grip on our bags all of the time. May have been the combination of regular market traders and car booters. Also the Saturday we were there was one of their regular horse sales and it was a bit like Appleby with horses being trotted all over the site with little regard for other users.
Not sure if this one is still going but as a first timer Warwick may suit you better - The car boot was near the police station on Saturday mornings - and it was a proper car boot and not just a glorified market. It must be one of the most civilized car boots we've ever done - even the queing system for sellers was self-regulated and very orderly. Good atmosphere, friendly people and very few vultures. Major disadvantage though is there are no toilets on site so you have to nip into Sainsburys on the way and take it in turns to walk there later.
Warwick Council owned the site so if you call them they should be able to tell you if it's still on.0 -
Thanks. I'll check it out.*removed by forumteam - please do not advertise in signatures*0

Eventually remembered it is Cape Road Car park - in the lower section. Have just checked and it is still on. The times are Saturdays 8am to around 12 noon. When selling get there by 7.30am at latest and take your place in the queue. Very rarely advertised but a good steady flow of buyers.
The pitches next to the houses are in the sun most of the day though this time of year you might want to get under the trees.
You don't seem to get the mad rush in the first couple of hours and then nothing that you find at other car boots. Buyers seem to come in waves - the first about 8.30am when on their way to the shops, then about 10.30am when on their way home and then again more shoppers on there way home for lunch. - A little tip if you are selling - don't be in a hurry to pack up before or when anyone else does as you still get this late wave - when we've had some of our busiest times at this car boot.
You may also want to check out the Warwick Corps of Drums car boot in Warwick on Sundays. Not one we've done but details are on their own web site.0
