Capital One Cashback deal being withdrawn

Capital One will be ceasing promotion of the platinum cashback credit card from Monday, 28th January.

This is due to business reasons and is across both offline and online channels.

I think the cut off is 3pm but to make sure do it today or Sunday before midnight.

I got a good earner from it in January from all my Christmas spending :T

You might as well get 4% off food & petrol and perhaps a holiday before the 4% deal runs out! The 4% more than covers most holiday companies credit card charges.

I was planning that my wife opened one, just as my 4% deal was ending. This is not till about the end of February.

However, if this is fact, I need to do today.

Are you certain the offer will be closing ? I had a look on Capital One website and it still seems open with no warning it will be withdrawn.

I'd prefer to wait a few weeks, but if you tell me this is for sure I'll do today.

I got friends to sign up on Saturday for one , the information I heard about says 3pm today. They will still do their other cards without cashback but who wants one of them!

Having a card already you will be aware that they want their money quickly, not a card to use unless you pay it all off immediately

It's up to you but there is nothing in it for me, I don't work for them

If its only for the sake of a few weeks I'd get it now.

Hope this helps, soon find out at 3pm!

  • Capital One's new deal appears to offer the following benefits:-

1% Cashback on all your purchases
0% interest on balance transfers until 1st November 2008
0% interest on purchases until 1st November 2008

As you have said, the 4% cashback offer is now no longer available, but this new selection of benefits makes this card a good option for slow stoozing.
    Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000
    Mortgage July 2007 - £0
Original Mortgage Termination Date - Nov 2018
    Mortgage Interest saved - £63790.60
    ISA Profit since Jan 1st 2015 - 98.2% (updated 1 Dec 2020)

I applied, and was approved online at 4% deal. Just waiting for paperwork to come through. Assume I will still get it on the old 4% cashback and not new rates that will be in place when forms are returned to them.
