Hi everyone
Wandered if anyone had any recipes for making your own face pack and exfoliaters? I love having the odd pamper day and doing these as a treat for myself, but some of these things cost money! And I would prefer using more natural ingrediants anyway!
I know thinks like avocados and oats and things like that are good, just not sure how to mix it up!
Also I like to use salt scrub but a small pot can cost a fiver and goes quickly, do you think it would have the same effect if I rubbed salt and water on?!!!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi forsya,
There are some 'recipes' for pampering yourself with on this thread:
Home kitchen beauty treats
Also if you look in the Mega Index Thread at the top of the board, under Make up and body care you'll find lots more ideas.

Two quick ones spring to mind... (colicky baby is sleeping - EVENTUALLY - so need to be quick!)
Get a kilner jar ( they're £1 in IKEA) fill with salt and add olive oil . Stir and keep adding oil until it's full. Use as a boby or face scrub. I add essential oils - lavender for a relaxing one and grapefruit for an "uplifting" one. Don't use extra virgin olive oil - too green looking and more expensive. Add colour co-ordinated ribbon and a little tag for a cheap gift idea.
ANother - sugar hand scrub - very similar to one Virgin Vie do. Same principle, fill jar with caster sugar and add baby oil, mix. If you have any "body glitter" or shimmer lotion, it's nice to add a squirt to make it look more expensive.
I'm sure I've done another one but brain has melted from the screaming baby!
(Think I'll check for colic tips on another forum now...!)

For a very cheap method of exfoliating, I recommend Boots exfoliator gloves. I spotted them instore a few weeks ago - £2.50, in lime green, blue, and white (possibly other colours as well, but that's what was in my local store). I bought a pair because they felt relatively soft, unlike a lot of exfoliator material, and I've been dead impressed. They don't scratch, but they do exfoliate very well. A bit of face cleaser rubbed into them and then gently massaged into the skin with the gloves removes all the dead skin (I have eczema, so I get very rough patches). I find the skin really sucks up moisturiser afterwards, and my skin has never been so soft.0

My mum always recommends mixing porridge oats with a little water to make a goopy paste and using it to exfoliate - I used to do it when I was younger but haven't tried for a while....That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0
