My mobile phone connects only occasionally with my laptop which doesn't have bluetooth. I have a lot of photos on my memory card and it irritates me that I can't just transfer them to the PC (SE mobile; their software bombed out on my old Dell).
I was gobsmacked in Comet (yes, it happens lol) when playing with the macbook and could just transfer my photos using b'tooth.
Salesman said to buy a dongle......I have never used a dongle, nor do I have the foggiest how it works or what make to buy.
Please help! Thanks very much. Will it work just as well as inbuilt bluetooth?

A dongle is a doddle to use (sorry - no pun intended).
Just plug it into the PC (normally a USB connection) and install the software that will come with it. That should give you a new icon on your desktop.
Launch that new icon and follow the instructions.
You may need to do something with your phone to get it to accept the connection, then it's just a case of copying the files across.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
I "may need to do something" to my phone? Expect another help post asap then!
Any makes of dongle (who invents these words?) to avoid or to buy?
I presume I can run it through the hub as I have no free usb ports?0 -
i use xp and i just plugged my usb dongle into the machine, and xp installed the drivers for it automatically.
all you have to do is right click on the bluetooth icon > click 'add a bluetooth device' > click the 'my device is ready to be found box' > and follow the rest of the wizard0
