I have 2 birthday parties coming up. one will be a tea-party at home for around 10 seven year olds
The other will be a big party with bouncy castle, for around 20 five year olds, in a hall
Im looking for money saving ideas, as well as some original ideas, for these parties.
I had my daughters on the same day
which is not very helpfull for money saving!

Hi there,
I have my 2 daughters birthdays coming up in the next 2 weeks, I am also looking for money saving ideas. They are 9 and 10 yrs and they are inviting 6 friends each for an evening of karoke, magic (my partner does magic), dance mats and a disco. I am going to paint all the girls nails, (bought some cheap gems to stick on) do all there make up for them and give them a funky hairstyle, all reafy for the disco. You could always do face painting or something for the 5 year olds. When my girls were 7yrs old I had a pamper party for them with hair, make up and nails done and they had loads of dressing up clothes and high heeled shoes to get into, feather boas and funny hats and wigs, you could ask around your friends to see if they could lend you any items that you need. Hope this helps.0 -
simple is best! treasure hunts are good, and so are the quality games of musical statues. Cost nothing but are mega fun!0

rmembering back 20 years- my best ever party was joint with my little bro- a 'pirate party'... mum had prepared eye patches for everyone, then we hada treasure hunt.we played gamed like apple dunking- and my absolute fav- trying to eat a ring donut when it is suspended from a string and your arms are tied behind your back- we played this outside to restrict the inevitable mess!
Oh and having a 'knikerbokerglory' bar- where you have ice cream, sauces, sweeties, chocolate, cream etc.. and the kids can make their own sundaes goies down a treat- and often ice cream is on bogof!0 -
Keep it simple with old fashioned party games, pass the parcel, pin the tail on the donkey, they absolutely love it, and make sure you have plenty of balloons. They'll be happy as larry.
Children are very competitive so divide into 2 groups and have something like a balloon race, they can run from one end of the hall to the other pick up a balloon and bring it back for the next person and have a relay. They'll have fun and burn off some of that energy too, the winners could get a lollipop or something, doesn't have to be expensive.
Take a CD player and have a disco dancing competition, again the winner can get a small prize.
As for the tea party, I love the idea of the dressing up or getting pampered, my 6 year old would love that and so would her little friends. Let them loose with some cheap make up, a few eyeshadows and lippy and then the little ladies can sit down to tea!0 -
Rather than party bags - visit a pound shop and look for one "treat" each. There are lots of teddy bears now due to Valentines' day - £1 each and a piece of cake and they will be happy ( I have tried it!).
Also, buy one small "themed" cake for the Happy Birthday - and have a cheaper cake already cut and wrapped up to take home. Saves time (at the end when they are hyper) and then you can re-use the themed cake for family etc.DFW No. 344
Proud to be dealing with my debts!!:T0 -
I hired our local church hall, and we also had a bouncy castle, I put 10 plastics disc into ten balloons and while the kids were eating the food we hid them around the room and with all the other balloons, we played the usual pass the parcel and then I told the kids to burst the balloons and whoever found the tokens we gave them a prize they loved it and it made it easy to clear up.
with reference to food dont go mad, I always do and it and it never gets eaten, someone told me to make up small boxes (like happy meal boxes) and fill with bits and bobs of food and a juice drink.
Good luck with the party:beer:0 -
I recently did a crafty party for my DD who was also 7 I ordered some packs from baker ross http://www.bakerross.co.uk/ of handbags, http://www.bakerross.co.uk/cat_id/ARTSFABR/product-Design-a-Denim-Shoulder-Bag-EC128.htm £3.96 for 6 (used as party bags at the end)!! shrinkies pack of 30 for £5.00 (made into neaklaces and bracelets with a pack of beads from tesco) http://www.bakerross.co.uk/cat_id/ARTSCRKI/product-Magic-Shrink-Jewellery-Classpack-E943.htm, and a few other bits the kids all sat around and were sooooo quiet for 3 hours it was great!!! - I also had a home made disco and some pass the parcel games etc. if you go in with a friend on the postage it works out realy cheep!
DD and friends didn't stop talking about the party at school following week and they were asked to take the bits in for show and tell!
