Is this a real win? BigPrizeDraw.com phone call

Options
Ooooh, feeling excited but don't want to get hopes up in case its fishy!

Just had a call from bigprizedraw.com concerning an internet comp I entered - I've won a week's holiday in Europe with flights!!!!!

Still suspicious and asked if there was a catch, and he said just a small one of £29 admin fee which isn't payable until I have received all tickets etc so that sounds reasonable, but still got the antenna twitching as any "fee" would.

I've got a freephone number to call for more info so will keep you posted!

Club La Costa - have to attend an exhibition at Lakeside (they throw in 50 quids of shopping vouchers too) to get my tickets. It's a timeshare thing obviously, think I will steer clear.

I'm in two minds really, 4 flights and a luxury villa would be nice, but I'm not happy jumping through all the hoops.

    bah!!!!

    I would not touch these.
  • Jojo - I would recommend you go to the presentation - my partner and I went last night and having been obviously un-enthusiastic about their sales pitch... they let us go within 20 mins, holiday and high street vouchers in hand! We were just firm from the start, informing them that we weren't in a position to invest and that to be honest it wasn't our cup of tea, being young professionals.

There are a few catches to the holiday - i.e. you have to choose 4 dates, 8 weeks apart but to be fair.... it's kinda worth it for a 4* holiday for £29.50 each! I'd pay way more to go to a concert... so, why not!

Have an open mind... we did and seem to have benefitted!

I have heard some really horrid stories from tourists about time-share sales techniques while I was living in Spain. Many of those ended up signing on to whatever was being offered just because they felt intimidated, obliged etc.

I think a win should be free. So if Club La Costa were honest and open you would just get the voucher sent home with instructions on how to book your holiday and no seminars to attend with your partner. They don't even allow you to go with a friend, you have to be a home-owner with a household income over an x-amount.

Participating in publicity is one thing, but CLC are specifically looking for people who could 'afford' to buy a time-share.

Again, I think a win should be free of cost and free of too much hassle.

I got a call from them too a while ago, and I can't even remember entering a competition for a holiday at a Club La Costa resort. When I asked what competition I had won, the woman just avoided my question. Personally I try to stay as far away from them (or any other time-share company for that matter) as possible.

Do consider all the pro's and con's before you make any decision, Good Luck!
Life without string would be chaos.
  • I've had this call before, as many many compers on here have. Unless you want to buy a timeshare I would avoid at all costs. They are not prizes as they hand them out quite freely to anyone who is interested. Also watch out for Seasons Holidays. Similar thing but they tend to contact you by post.

Just enter some more comps on here, you never know you might win a 'real' holiday before too long. Good luck :D
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

  • In regards to Ceebsy - I can confirm she is a real person and not from the promoting place! I got her into Comps and sent her a link to this board.

Just wanted to let people know that she definately isn't from the timeshare place lol. Promise!

:j2008 WINS 2 peroni bottle openers 3 choc packs 1 grolsch glass lots of Thomson vouchers
2009 WINS Dracula Panto tickets - Vimrod bag - DAB radio - loreal Mascara
  • I have just had a call too and whilst the flights and accomodation would be nice, really do not want to have to sit through a heavy sales pitch to get them! CLC themselves are ok (my parents have a timeshare with them and it has worked well for them over the years) however, it just isnt my thing. Wont class this as a win on my signature - in my opinion just another sales ploy - but good luck to anyone who is prepared to stick to their guns and take advantage - I suppose for them if they can just the the odd couple to take up membership from their presentations it is worth it!
Jan 11 - New Year and I am feeling positive :j
