bank offering credit card.

Atm almost everytime i log on to halifax i get them trying to flog me the one card.
Now i dont know but cant i ask them not to show this on my login as its a rather sneaky way of marketing their products as apposed to a banner showing the offer thats on.

also is this sort of maketing targeted at their target market that are most likely to be accepted or is it just targeted at anyone. I ask as i have been gettin this more and more since i managed to get back in to permanent work as was wondering if this had to do with anything?

You can choose to opt out of marketing in the following ways:

    • Email
    • Counter (i.e. when branch staff try and flog you things)
    • Postal
    • Telephone
I opted out of marketing a while ago though so can't say why they are offering you more credit cards than before - if you have a monthly wage and no charges then that may be why though.

You can opt out of marketing by writing, calling them or going into a branch.

    Hope that helps. :D

Hi I asked this same question last week and got told that it doesn't mean anything, its not like you've been pre-approved, No. Unfortunately not - you apply and it gives you same treatment as everyone else - best way to find if you've been pre-approved is to go into branch and ask and they will tell you (obviously being it could be a sale)......

Branch is the only way you'll find out pre-authorised products.

    HTH ;)

    Sorry mate meant Abbey.

I have too many current accounts..........

Abbey reckon that they start to pre approve credit cards with a behaviour score of 650 and I am 548 & sutton is 600........

I am not sure how it works with sutton as he has a basic account....

I would have thought that they would upgrade his account if his BS was better than mine!

Oh, I got told that basic accounts do not generate a bahviour score? That was from someone at Natwest/HSBC/Barclays/Lloyds so assuming Abbey work on same principles, being a basic account isn't credit scored - therefore it can't be assessed for credit based products - see where i'm coming from mate?

It was the likes of SS/Barclaysmanager that confirmed this....
