Terms and Conditions

Competitions are open to anyone over the age of 18 based in the UK except for employees of AboutMyArea and connected companies.
All competitions either have a closing date or provide a set number of prizes a month.
All competitions on AboutMyArea are free to enter. However participants are expected to pay their own cost of connecting to the web site, or where competitions are phone based, the standard cost of the phone call or SMS message.
Winners of the competition will be notified by e-mail within one week of the closing date of the competition except where competitions are jointly offered with a third party. In this case, winners will be notified once the third party has drawn the winner. Should the e-mail bounce, an attempt to contact the winner will also be made by phone. If contact cannot be made within one month, the prize will be lost. Prizes will be sent by default to the customer's registered address. It is the winner's responsibility to notify AboutMyArea of any change in address.
Prizes may be offered by AboutMyArea or by other companies and these prizes may appear across other web sites and other advertising media. AboutMyArea will make every reasonable effort to ensure that only bona fide prizes are offered. However where a prize is offered in conjunction with another company and the other company withdraws or fails to provide it, AboutMyArea will not provide the prize itself.
Unless otherwise stated, AboutMyArea reserves the right to substitute a cash amount for the chosen prize or to an equivalent value. This is at AboutMyArea's discretion. Otherwise prizes are as stated.
On registering with AboutMyArea and when entering any competition, each applicant agrees to receive information containing, but not limited to, market research and advertising from 3rd parties via e-mail, SMS, telephone, postal and other channels that is appropriate given the answers to the questions on each competition. Specifically, where a visitor has answered a question or a competition provided by a sponsor of AboutMyArea, the visitor's details will be passed onto the sponsor. Visitors should expect to receive marketing and other communication from AboutMyArea, its customers, sponsors and other organisations that can provide relevant offers. AboutMyArea will also use your information to facilitate communication between yourself and others.
Winners of the competitions will be displayed on the web site as title, surname, area e.g. Mr Jones from Birmingham. Winners will be deemed to give AboutMyArea a perpetual irrevocable license to use their names or images in future promotions.
Competitions may be subject to additional rules. If so, these additional rules will be listed in the special terms and conditions buttons on the relevant competition entry page.

All winners are required to co-operate with editorial and photos publicising their win as AboutMyArea deems appropriate.
