What are your top three peices of equipment you couldn't live without for OS?

My top three peices for OS would have to be:

1. My bread maker, Cost Free! (donation from a friend)

There is nothing better than home made bread without all the chemicals.

2. Food Blender, Cost Fee! (voucher from wedding present)

Couldn't live without it for making soups, smoothies, sauces, chopping onions, pate etc...

3. My Pasta machine, Cost Free! (donation from mother in law as she had never used it)

Home made pasta tastes so much better and cheaper than shop brought and fills you up more too

Looking forward to reading what other peoples thoughts are!

Have a b/m but often make by hand instead, love my pasta machine but it broke! (cogs won't turn). I also love my huge old mixing bowl, very old fashioned given to me by my mum.

Wondering about a Kenwood Chef, would I use it much?

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

    Freezer,
    Microwave,
    Hand blender.

Would love to put my slow cooker and bread machine, but only allowed 3!!!!!
  • Freezer

Once just a place to store bread, milk and ready meals - now stuffed with HM curries, sauces, ice cream and whatover else I happen to have made double of plus frozen fruit, veg and herbs and batches of live yoghurt

My huge non-stick saucepan and lid

Brilliant for chillis, curries etc. Not sure how I ever managed without it

    Food Processor

Fantastic piece of kit, used at least 5 times a week

  • Washing Machine - surprised how few see this as a necessity here. I couldn't bear the thought of washing all those towels, bedclothes, uniforms, etc by hand.

    Fridge/freezer

    cooker
As you can see I have assumed that pieces of equipment mean anything in the house that you wouldn't want to be without. For smaller items, I would have to say

    food processor

    Microwave

PC How would I get all these marvellous tips otherwise? :D

Kenwood Chef- have blender/dough hook/whisk/food mill attachment so that gets used for everything except for chopping for which I use my..
Food processor for dips, chopping, large volumes of curry pastes etc

And finally my kettle - how else am I supposed to make my tea and coffee? :rotfl:

Of course the fridge/freezer and cooker are essentials as well but the above are really luxury essentials!
  • Rayburn - only fired up in the winter, and on a low heat permanently. Invaluable for slow cooking pasta sauce, soup, casseroles, curry, jacket potatoes, and cooking pasta and rice inside the oven, so the kitchen's not filled with steam. Also good for warming your bottom! Am looking at getting a slow cooker for the warmer months.

Kenwood Chef - cakes, puddings, meringues, dough. Mine has a liquidiser attachment; is that part of one item? If so, that's used for soup loads.

Freezer - for the rest of the large batches of food that I've cooked in my Rayburn, so that though I don't cook from scratch every day, most meals are home cooked.
