Multicolour lines on LCD TV

Hi all

Ive had my Sony LCD 100Hz Tv for about 18months now and this morning the picture suddenly went and these multi colour vertical stripes appeared. I could still hear the sound but could only see the stripes. Ive checked my ariel by plugging in an old portable and thats fine so it must be the TV. Just wondering if its worth taking it to be repaired or just getting another one which really will annoy me as i kind a thought a Sony TV would last longer then 18 months!!!
Thanks

well seeing as its 100hz it probably cost alot so its worth a try under the sale of goods act

i must say though, unless normal 60hz tv annoys you then dont buy 100hz again, from stuff ive read and heard its nowhere near as reliable as standard 60hz. it was only developed for consumers as some people see flickering when they watch normal tellie, now you may be in this category in which case you have to go for another.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Thanks for reply. It had just one year warranty, can i still try under sales of goods act? And if so, would that be with sony or the shop i bought it at?

The flicker problem is for back in the CRT days as the picture was fully refreshed, with LCD TV's the pixels just stays one colour until its told to change so there is no flicker.

I still don't see the advantage of 100hz unless you receive a 100hz signal (PC connection maybe). All you are doing is adding frames in which it may guess wrong etc.

As for the TV it sounds very broken to me.
