Cheap OEM Software

in Shop but don't drop
Cheap OEM software can be purchased at a fraction of the normal price. The little software shop sell popular software like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop at severely reduce prices. I've purchased from them before and the disks are actual manufacturer's disks, not dodgy copies like what you may get from eBay. Take a look at their FAQ section which explains what OEM software is. You don't get any fancy packaging or manuals but at these prices, I couldn't really complain.

Hope this helps one of two of you out there who finds some software are prohibitively expensive. Happy software hunting!

    While it sounds tempting, and the prices are very good, has anyone actually used these guys?

    Not one to cast doubt but their main contact is a hotmail address!?!

    The web site has no geographical address that I can find. The e-mail address is a Hotmail address.
    Read what you like into it but I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

    The site is hosted in the UK and the owner is one Peter Hamilton of 16 Rowantree Grove Edinburgh EH14 5AT.

    Sounds like a home address.

    Selling XP Pro for £25 plus £20 post is still nearly half the wholesale price so it has to be either a scam or pirate SW.

    Definately a home address. If you do a google earth or locallive view of the adress it's a lovely cul-de-sac!....

    Quoting their guarantee....."So, your purchase from us is totally RISK FREE because we resume RISK instead of you. For whatever reason, if you're not satisfied with the software-JUST return the CD-ROM back to us within 30 days. We 'lll refund 100% of your money in 1-2 weeks "

    So they are going to RESUME the risk?. I hope they've got English 101 software on their shelf, they need it....and they'll take a fortnight to refund you?!.

    This thread needs deleting. OEM software is indeed very good value but costs much more than this.

    Most places that sell OEM software require you to also buy something in the same transaction that is a fundamental part of a computer (e.g. a processor or internal dvd drive or something like that).
    I would be very nervous about a company that just sells the software without this!

    I always thought that to buy OEM software you had to buy the hardware at the same time, or has this changed ?

    This site is a bit suspect, I would guess that the software is illegal.

    Just read this on the sites FAQ - I have reported the thread.

    From the look of this they are selling software that has already been registered...

    What do I get when I order something from you?
    You get the CD(s) with the software in plastic folder and labels. You also get the activation key, serial number or cd key necessary to activate the software. Note, that you will not be able to register the software with the manufacturer and get their support because the first hand buyer has already registered. But we will do our best to support you any way possible. This includes providing different updates and service packs. However some updates will still be available from manufacturers, in fact most of them.

    e-gold, which is some dodgy scam, Western Union mentioned and some bad spelling on the home page for a start, those postage charges look like those from Hong Kong or middle east

    The site isn't just a bit suspect, it is completely illegal. "Peter Hamilton of 16 Rowantree Grove Edinburgh EH14 5AT." will no doubt soon be hearing the beating of FAST sticks against his door at 5AM... :)
