If its just for hanging baskets/Tubs for flowers you can use the crystals in a disposable nappy.I'd do this for flowers but not veg.Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0

Not a huge amount cheaper, but Aldi have them at £2.99 for 300g at the moment, if not sold out (came in on Thurs).0

Not jel but ....
What used to be
sold as "Tesco's Premium", I think it's now "Tesco Dust Free", is
produced as a horticultural additive, but sold for many times the price.

Give it a week or two and you can usually find this in the pound shop. How much? you guessed it..............0

Vermiculite. You can buy 100litres for £20 at hydroponic shops or smaller bags at your local garden center. It aids aeration and drainage yet retains useful amounts of water for when needed. It's ph neutral. A 50/50 mix for hanging baskets or less.0

99p shops have bags of water retaining gel crystals....for 99p!
Do you have/are you a member of your local gardeners/allotment association? They usually have such things at near cost price and membership is only a couple of quid a year.0 -
