Thanks guys for both sites but it is now saying my video card or is not compatible with media player!!! I hve tried installing windows media 11 again and a service pack but that hasn't worked either!
It was working before I had to reset all computer, it plays music but just not dvd!!!!0 -
If you want something simple but that works well, try Media Player Classic (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic.cfm/v6_4_9_1__20080127_) It's designed to look like the old Windows Media Player but it plays DVDs and lots of video file formats. It's really lightweight and fast - not like the bloated and slow Media Player that now comes with Windows.
I use it with an old Windows 2000 machine at home and it plays DVDs and video files without any problems. The same DVDs and files with Windows Media Player don't play well at all.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Thanks to everyone who has sent help but it still doesn't work, it now says there is a problem with digital copy protection and none of the other sites have worked either!!!
Will it work if I throw laptop through window?
I have also tried to get rid of media player 11 but it won't remove it either it just rolls it back to an earlier time?
I have tried finding an updated driver as well but am having no luck whatsover, does anyone have a link to one of those please!!
Sorry to be a pain0 -

Give it a try and download the portable version (that will not even need to be installed on your computer) and just delete it if it doesn't work.

Hope this helpsDo I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
VLC player has ffdshow built in i beleive, which should play MOST video and audio files.
Is this a retail DVD you are trying to use or something downloaded from the internet?
If it is from the internet it may have something called DRM which will not allow you to play the file.
Download for VLC Player: http://downloads.videolan.org/pub/videolan/&file=vlc/0.8.6f/win32/vlc-0.8.6f-win32.exe0
