Thanks for all the replies re oh. he just popped in and I am meeting him for coffee in a bit to have a chat. I just cleaned my fridge and now have 2 slow cookers going with meatloaf in one and sausage casserole in the other. I have also made a zuchinni lasagne for DD as she is veggie. So thats meals for today and tommorow sorted for all of us and things in fridge used up. Never made the meatloaf before so see how it goes.

I know it's stuff you already know but remember to bulk out your meat with tasty vegetables/ lentils beans etc to double up your volume. Then freeze half to use another day.....it's healthier too.
Be creative and work around what you have in your store cupboard...search recipes to find new ways of cooking what you have.
Beans on toast is always a nutritious stand by meal. I could go on and on but it would bore the pants off you:rotfl:

Thanks TM, I think it's a case of laugh or cry, get on with things or wallow, and I'm not normally one for wallowing! I think it's actually slightly relieving for both of us as I couldn't bring myself to just quit with nothing to go to, but it was making me so miserable and DH said he hated seeing me so depressed every evening at the thought of going back the next day. So they did me a favour in that respect :T

Got a bone in beef rib in the slow cooker, added tomato passata and herbs and planning to have pulled beef with mash and veg for tea. I would never normally slow cook such an expensive joint (£18 full price!! :eek:) but I only paid £4 RTC and its been at the bottom of the freezer for a year (shhh don't tell DH or he'll have a fit :rotfl:). Hopefully it'll do at least a couple of meals each plus a sarnie or two. I'm normally pretty good at making cheap evening meals as neither of us has a massive appetite, but it's the picky snacky things that add up and DH will just buy it in T if I don't get them cheap in Lidl. Looking forward to Nocking with the best of them
