Aha.....is this it?.....
I am very proud of this...I still see myself as a beginner at knitting...I had to stop this project a few times and learn a knew skill!...the dpns for the eyes took a bit of practice!
I am looking forward to the Sewing Bee....I don't have a machine, but love the show!
Butternut and Mushroom bake for dinner...and a baked egg later (really simply...and cheap!....grease a small ramekin....chop up whatever leftovers you have handy...I am doing half a slice of ham, 2 cherry tomatoes and a blob of mustard...crack an egg on top...add a splash of milk...or cream or joghurt if you prefer....and bake until the egg is cooked to your taste...serve with toast)0 -
I defrosted a piece of turkey left from Christmas, sliced some of it to make a roast dinner with & made a batch of turkey supreme to be served with vegetable rice & also made up some turkey rolls for lunches tomorrow.

Knitting is definitely top of my list of new skills to learn.
Today I have made two of the cards, will do the rest over the next week. I eked out last nights tea into todays lunch as well (a tiny bit of left over chicken stirfry - in a wrap with some extra veg added) and spent £2.08 on YS bakery goods (crumpets, croissants, hot cross buns and bread) all of which is now in the freezer for another day.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 3.6.25 - £107,282.15

I had to come on, just putting the YS chicken I got yesterday and it says it feeds 4/5 people this made me laugh!!!! it's 1.8kg good old M&S. We know they haven't heard of us lot have they as if we'd only get 4/5 meal more like 4 x 5 meals.
I collected the clothes for DGS and they are all like new 20 items in the £5 bundle and that includes his beloved George Pig and Fireman Sam stuff he will be a happy little chappy.
Had to darn a hat that the nursery put a hole in due to hanging it on a peg and a 2year old pulling on it, lol.Why pay full price when you may get it YS0 -
Loving reading this thread, although I don't have anything much to offer at the moment that is anything different to what you are all doing. Have patched 2 pairs of trousers of dd's. Both the left knees - but the rights are looking decidedly threadbare - will save those for another day when they are more desperately in need :rotfl: Have also stitched up 2 pairs of dd's leggings that have gone at the knees.
I've been having a big cull in my wardrobe of late. One skirt that I love the fabric of is a very highwaisted style and is designed to be worn with something tucked in to show off the waistband detail. Not really my style for every day wear so I have refashioned the waistband to be a bit more forgiving of my 3-baby tummy :rotfl: All I did was trim a few inches off the top - hemmed it, topstitched for fanciness, then moved the belt ties. I was debating about moving a large button detail but decided that since it stays up fine without it , I won't bother :rotfl:
I also cut the bodice part off a grey knitted linea dress (from the cs originally) as again its not super forgiving in the tummy region so I often pass over it. Have turned it into a skirt
it stays up with the thin tie belt it came with, but if I come across some of that wide waistband stuff you get in jersey skirts I'll have another go at it.

I've mended dd's school coat today - the hood was coming off, a combination of her using it as a hook and it being pulled on in the playground. Didn't think it would last another week, so got out the machine. We are both pleased with the result!
And dd has found 11 toys for the charity shop - incentivised by getting 10p per item!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
I love this thread as well – inspired by you all, I re-organised the freezer, found the makings of 18 meals, and created a drawerful of stocks and stew bases. Didn’t know I had that much, as I can hardly find anything when I go looking!
So, now my next task is this – I am currently sitting in an M&S cardi I bought – I love the materials, really colourful knitted cotton, but the style is very unflattering – I don’t know what I was thinking when I bought it (and, being M&S, it wasn’t cheap). The right half covers (and buttons to) the left half almost completely, so I want to make it into an edge-to-edge unbuttoned jacket-thing instead.
Any suggestions as to how to go about this? I think I may need bias binding, but that’s as far as I am getting. I don’t want to wreck it completely, but otherwise it is going into the ‘scruff/decorating clothes’ bag, and there is far too much stuff in that already.

Hello there CarolBT. Were you thinking of removing the bands where the buttons/buttonholes are? -Assuming that they're on a band, and will that affect the band round the neck? I'd suggest that you use bias binding if you are going to remove said bands or alternatively you could use braid over the strips where the buttons/buttonholes have been and continue it round the neckline. It's a bit difficult to advise without seeing the shape and style, but be cautious about taking the welt off the front and neck on a knitted item as that helps the garment keep its shape and you might end up with wavy edges unless you sew it very carefully and accurately. Do let us know how you get on.0
