Hi
It's that time of year again when the WHS applications usually come up, only, Scottish Power haven't released any details yet.
Gets later every year for no reason although there must be a reason!
I did contact them and was told it 'might' be open in September and to keep an eye out for it but no more indefinite than that.
Anyone else have any more info or please add to this thread when there is any info.
SP so very reassuring and professional, motto 'we are mushrooms, kept in the dark'

It's £140 this year, up from £135 last year.
This is the last year of the scheme technically. Wonder if there will be anything next year, ELECTION year!?
British Gas opened their scheme on May 1st:cool:
Those in the Core group get their entitlement automatically as far as I know.
Then its down to the Broader group applications for discretionary qualification dependent on various criteria for the £140 discount which varies from supplier to supplier.
Roll on September, yawn:D0 -
The Warm Home discount is now in year 4 of a 5 year scheme as it was extended. The Core group has changed this year. Anyone on guaranteed pension credit or guaranteed and savings pension credit are now Core without an upper age limit. The DWP should send this information to the suppliers that are taking part. Here is a list of those that are actioning the WHD this year. https://www.gov.uk/the-warm-home-discount-scheme/eligibility

Those on savings pension credit only will still need to contact their supplier for an assessment.

I work for British gas and am finding many customers just think they are on pension credit. They are unaware of which type it is. Can I suggest if anyone is calling their supplier that they check all the pages of the letter from the DWP so they have the correct information for an assessment. It saves having to call back the supplier again.

I would also check the websites of the companies taking part to see if others may meet the criteria for the Broader Group if you are not in the Core group.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -

- an interesting and welcome policy shift Joyful
- previously those with both guaranteed & savings element were always 'broader' only
- in which case the DWP on behalf of GOV should be sending 'snail mail' brown envelope notification
- automatic qualifiers don't need to apply to their energy supplier as the DWP notify contributing suppliers
Welcome because the previous policy denied those who made private pension provision, no matter how pitifully small an amount access to the 'core'. It would be fair to say that group would be mainly those who earned and were able to save less. Women in this society have earned at least 40% less than males [like for like].Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I agree Richie. Last year many people who were Core the year before lost out. This was down to a change in pensions by many getting a couple of pounds savings pension added. If I got a pound for everyone that says they have no savings so can't be getting it I would be rich. Now all of those will be core again this year.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0
