Just wanted to pop out the shadows and thank VM for keeping up this thread, its great to see the total reaching over £1million. Well done everyone.

I have also made my end goal target of EMFD of Dec 16!! I only have 3 years left now  but hoping to take another year off that (fingers crossed :o )

Congrats to all that have become mortgage free this year and to those that only have months left. It must be an amazing feeling to have that freedom.

Happy New Year everyone, good luck with your targets next year :A Thanks for the support with like-minded people.

    Hi everybody,

Checking in with my final overpayment for 2013

    # 137 2595.80

I met my target, but only just so it's not a penny more :o I'm very happy with what I've achieved as I was late joining the thread (June) and it's all because I get a lot of motivation reading everybody else's posts.

So a big thank you to everybody who joins in and posts their payments, a special big thank you to Voucherman for keeping track of everybody and all the figures, and a thank you to JCL for offering take the reins for 2014

Hope to see you all again over on the 2014 thread.:)

#48 here with last payment of £4,876 submitted. Missed target by a few k but happy enough with what I've achieved :T.

Many thanks VM for all your hard work and a massive :j:j:j:j:j to everyone. Superb progress .

Morning + happy new year everyone,

Firstly, well done to everyone on MFW2013, we reached a million!

    Secondly, I'm mortgage free! :D

I made my last payment this morning after ringing to find out closing balance. I have cleared my £71,000 mortgage in 12 months after some careful money management involving high interest accounts, ISAs, reward accounts, lots of money saving coupons, glitches, ditching and/or switching, frugal (but not overly so) living, one or two successful parking appeals :rotfl: and overpayments.

What my MFW2013 payment calculations haven't taken into account are the monthly payments less interest, which reduced my mortgage by £1619.69 before overpayments. This leaves required overpayment for December of £6233.39 which I completed this morning with a final overpayment of approx £350. Spreadsheet updated, target reached 100%.

This has been my second mortgage I have cleared. I haven't joined MFW2014 but who knows in the future, I might be joining MFW2017 or something - I don't consider this house as my forever home so I may climb the housing ladder yet further. But I intend to save a fair bit over the next few years before that happens. And even do things I've never done before like dabbling in stocks and shares. Improving my pension is a must too.

Hope everyone has a great night for NYE, I might grab some bubbly from stressco's, I'm sure I have a money off coupon somewhere........ _party_
