Has anyone else done it this way? Do you need to send a cheque too?0

Its amazing how so many people don't understand the way regular savers work. The clue is in the name!
Nottingham don't offer on line very simply as they don't want to be swamped with applications. For locals only.0 -
Wonder if this offering might be closed soon.
Went into branch today and they were fairly grumpy about opening one, after confirming that I was already a member. Made a big play of having to book an appointment, then about how they couldn't do it for several days, distinct impression they were hoping I'd give up.
First appointment was Fridays afternoon which was fine for me, just need two forms of id and to reply saying no a lot when they try and
reside me to buy insurance etc.0 -

Whilst you could be correct my NBS branch are always keen for you to set up a meeting to open accounts then just walking in unannounced.
I think this is more down to staffing levels and work loads than much else though.0 -

Maybe, but there were two doing nothing when I walked in yesterday, though think this is shared with their estate agency business, still no reason why they couldn't be more usefully employed dealing with my business though.0 -
I encountered the "need an interview" ploy a couple of months ago when I popped into a branch to open a previous issue and get a passbook updated.
I told them that I was on my way up to Scotland so I wouldn't bother, I must have used the correct password as my account was opened and I was on my way home within 10 minutes.0 -
Have i got this right ?
£ 250 per month for 1 year = £ 3000 & 5% a month = £ 3,069.71
Equivalent to about 2;3 % interest
That does not seem anything to get too excited about
Technically, it's not 2.3%, it's 2.3%, plus 50% of the APR you'd get elsewhere.
I've got a friend (Georgian national) that lives in Nottingham, that's opened one of these, mainly because UK rates aren't good at all at the moment.

Just want to update. I got my passbook after waiting for about six weeks by post. So yes you could open it via post by downloading the form and then send it:
- Your certified ID
- Original Proof of Address.
to their head quarter in Nottingham
Make sure you send the above documents you do not repeat the same mistake that I have made which cause delay.
Good news for you. However....
I wonder whether you managed to get in before there was a change?
It looks to me that the website states 'offer only available in branch' now. Am almost certain it didnt say that when I first saw this.
i.e. do you think they have now tightened up since launching this account?0
