UN-Privativatise energy companies
This seems the only way to curb the excessive profits and pay taken by the board members and shareholders of energy companies at our expense

that will just put prices up, not down competition creates lower pricesDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Renationalisation is a non starter due to EU directives and anti competition laws.
What milliband could do is create a new publically owned energy company... Just like EDF, which is owned by the French governmentPromo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0 -
Why do you consider 5% business profits and 3.5% shareholder dividend payments in bgs case excessive?0

This is of course a nonsense and shows you have been listening to your employer's (Previous employer? This week's employer? Who knows?) propaganda. The ONLY way to truly determine the relative cost of ANY commodity/service etc between nations is to show the cost as a %tage of income. I'm afraid it just isn't a case of looking at the cost of something in another country, going on XE.com and doing the maths (and I actually think you know this). For instance, this sort of simplistic exampling is very much open to currency fluctuations. Say one nation's currency suddenly experiences a massive dip/increase - does that then make them, overnight, the cheapest/most expensive for gas and electricity in Europe? It's a nonsense stat peddled by industry shills.
Of course, if we then accept my way of doing these things, we as a nation have more fuel poverty than any other nation in Europe except Estonia.
So much for the cheapest prices in Europe spin.
Argue against THAT one

Do you mean "production costs" ?
In 2009 - they estimated production costs of North Sea oil at $30 per barrel
Whereas Middle East oil was about $5 per barrel (all in)
bear in mind a barrel is 35 gallons !!0 -

I don't know but I imagine you could trace it all back to some oligarth somewhere in Russia if you keep going. Perhaps we could ask him not to keep his economy booming as we think our bills are higher than we'd like.
I remember in the 80's there was talk everywhere that there would be no gas left by the year 2000 so I'm just pretty grateful we have a supply in 2013. (or should I say you, as I'm on lpg!)0
