Can I just ask that if people are going to do this that you're really careful with the dates of the comps that you expire please?
I've just found two comps posted yesterday morning by Lakshmi7 (here and here, although they might be moved back if you click them, as I've PM'ed a BG with the links) with end dates of E: 14/07 that have been expired and put into Game Over, presumably when expiring E: 14/05 they were also expired at the same time? (And I think that means that more than one person clicked expire on them?)
I'll PM a BG to get those two moved back, but unfortunately I won't be able to find any that were posted much further back than yesterday that might have also been mistakenly expired as it will mean going through too many pages to do so (bearing in mind they could have been posted at any time, the odd one even more than a year ago as some comps don't end for ages, it's not really that easy to find them in GO any way you try to), those are (or were when I posted this, as they'll probably move soon enough) on page 7 (default view) of Game Over.
To be honest, although it might be helpful, I'd imagine the BG's to have a far slicker way of expiring comps en masse? I'm thinking they might have something like our subscription system whereby they can select boxes and move a page or so at a time with relative ease? Which might not take as much time as you think compared to other things such as merging duplicates and moving the odd comp here and there (such as the two mistakenly moved mentioned above) etc?
Also, if I'm reading correctly(?)cornishpasty1 wrote: »thanks Daphne I did all todays (up until 5pm) earlier so they should disappear after a click or two :j
I'm not sure expiring them on the day they end is a good idea for people that might want to enter any last minute ones that were posted that day that they haven't caught yet, or even people that might not enter until after they get home from work (I know there's some, including ITV, that end early but most don't end until 23.59 so some might work that way) it might be best to wait until after midnight at least? I'd think that some people don't look in Game Over, especially as comps have not been moving to there until after they're expired for a while now? I know that one click probably wouldn't move them over, but if others decided to do the same then they'll be moved before they're ended.
Just my thoughts, hope it's ok to mention them.
(P.S. Sorry for the amount of question marks, I just wanted to make it clear that it's what I think might be the case rather than an assumption that it's correct.)0 -
hiya, since last week i've found it easier & quicker to use
the comps search & put in
E: 10/05 Win
E: 15/05 Win
E: 16/05 Win
as said in post

that way i can see at a glance which are in GO & which are still in comps,
& it only brings up the xx/05
I also go into the comp to check before clicking expired to see if the comp has closed,

I only expired them after their stated expiry time ie 3pm/5pm etc so there would be no point anyone entering them after their stated time, and I didn't expire any timed ones with question marks #StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -

I've just checked and it wasn't me either (phew!)
Bargainhungergal, I think you did raise valid points about being careful when expiring them in bulk though, I know my eyes were going whizzy after a while and I didn't do as many as some yesterday.
I do think it is a worthwhile exercise though as I am a bit behind at the moment and I hate clicking on a comp, reading it, entering all my details etc to find it expired 2 or 3 days ago. My fault I know for not reading the date to start with but it's easy to go on autopilot when entering.StayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -

Same here def not clicked expired, I think there are always a couple that go into game over for some obscure reason and I only click the ones that are previous days unless they have finished during the day as cp states.
The bgs have so much to do that deleting old comps is left on the back burner for days, sometimes a week or more which is why we are trying to help move them and keep the board as tidy as possible and free up their time for all the merges etc.
EDIT:
Have created a thread asking for bgs feedback on which way they would prefer, either leaving it to them to sort en mass or us carry on what we're doing.
Thanks for the questions bargainhuntergal it will be good to get some clarification x
