  • Hi GG, the Tilly household lonely sock home is on the radiator in our bedroom so any lost socks are deposited until their other half turns up. If nothing turns up I use them for cleaning the bathroom and then bin them :T:rotfl:

Ok that's my secret confession over

It's not often I find something on another site I think worth referring to (yes, there is life outside MSE!!!) but I've just read THIS and wish I'd read it years ago! Basically, it's pointing out that if you borrow money you're leaving your future self to pay it back. Worth a read.

  • Thank you for the tip, I have subscribed to the site. I think I might print the article and give it to my children.....
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
  • Yes, excellent article. So many people are blind to how much more it costs to borrow and that if you only bought what you can afford, you'd be far better off.

The rest thought they were escaping as they made a giant leap onto the floor but I cunningly trapped them with the table leg .

Have also done sums as it payday tomorrow :T. It appears I do not have enough money to pay off btl mortgage unless I go overdrawn on account which feeds other btl's. Shame ;). Overdraft it is then :rotfl:. Balance tomorrow, with OP, will be about £750. £120 further OP to come, £230 mortgage payment, leaves £400 for Dec OP (all I can afford as 2 x £250 reg savers also need fed).

ETA: Just checked Spanish Bank and it will need topping up in next few months as well :(

  • Hey GG,

Great news that your so close to booting out BTL Mortgage.

I was shocked you threw out socks... when people are paying good money for ridiculous Christmas presents like this. Along with ebaying the tumbled fluff, you could have started an ebay store selling odd socks in egg boxes!

p.s. odd socks great for waxing wooden furniture - left hand wax on, right hand wax off.

I did actually check ebay, no market for fluff it appears :rotfl:, or maybe I've stumbled on a gap in the market :D.

Forgive me MSE'ers for I have sinned :o. Despite following Natty's weekend housework plan the housework is getting on top of me. Plus I'm just soooooo tired all the time I can't summon up the energy to do anything. Just phoned cleaner and she will do another 30 mins a week, which is probably the equivalent of 2 hours of my pathetic attempts :o. An extra £4 a week so will starve myself one day a week to pay for it .

Ebay finished - around £30 coming my way :T.

To show I'm not completely bah humbug I bought one of THESE while in Ireland last week. Now feeling bad, should have bought one for DD as well :o.
