Bit of help please

I had a long dispute with my supplier Eon, not going to hit you with it all as it's over 7 years!!!

Any way last year they came with a warrant to install a gas pre pay meter but they could not as my supply is IGT. I got a letter hand posted on tues last week saying if balance is not sorted in 7 days we will fit a pre pay meter for gas, as they can now do this.

I own my house, my gate bolts were on, I come home no gas as Eon came out a put this meter in capped the supply, left me and children for 6 hrs without heating hotwater and i cook with gas.

I called them about it and they told me as the meter was out side they don't need a warrant, surley this can't be right? All I want to no is do they need a warrant for out side or not? I no they do for internal meters.

I work for a supplier, however I can't disclose this info or seek help for a number or reasons. If someone can tell me the answer ASAP that will be good. Thanks

  • If you work for a supplier you will know the answer to your own question. A warrant is NOT required for meters outside the property as they are not forcing entry into the property. The meter belongs to the distributor, not you, so they can access and change their own property.
  • I do work for a supplier, but warrants are not dealt with by my area. Oh the meter belongs to the mops, Not the distributor. Thanks for your input.

    Hi keenang

Just checked with our legal people and can advise we don't need a warrant to change a meter if it's outside the property.

    Hope this answers your question.
