Advise please,
I registered with experian yesterday and was shocked to find 3 defaults (between £85 to £500) put there by a company called lowel portfolio ltd, between 2009 and 2010.
Also they have made a total of 4 searches this year alone, i couldn't sleep well last night. I cant wait till monday to go CAB, but in meantime has anyone else seen something similar on their file or ever dealt with this company, how did you go about it please?

Do you have outstanding debts that might correspond to these?
Lowells are a debt collector that buys up debts. They are allowed to change any defaults that existed into their name.
If these are not your debts then you need to complain and have them removed.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

OK. Does it give any indication of what type of debts they are?
Read page 19 onwards of the factsheet in this link.
http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_the_public/topic_specific_guides/~/media/documents/library/Data_Protection/Practical_application/credit_explained_leaflet_2005.ashx
That explains how to formally dispute incorrect information on your credit file.
Write to Lowell with a formal complaint. make it clear that you will be taking this forward to the ICO & FOS (if appropriate), and that you will also consider legal action should they refuse.
On top of that, contact the credit reference agencies that show the defaults and raise a formal dispute via them.
Lowells will try to fob you off if they can, but complaints from 2 or more directions may make this harder for them to do. Plus should these debts fall under the remit of the FOS, then they cannot ignore them. In fact, if you eventually took the complaint to the FOS they will charge Lowells £500 for the pleasure.
Lowells also have a track record of doing this to people, and BBC watchdog have a file on them and have done reports on them in the past.

I have been through the links and a few related threads on the forum, i will be sending the "prove it letter" My question is there is i have no reference number, all i have got on the default are entry number, my name, previous ad, dob, default dates, company name.
To complete the letter should i put the above details in place of reference, or write to lowell for debt reference number first, and then reply them with prove it letter?
Thanks0 -
they dont have to prove the default noticeDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
